Will Vancouver ever beat the ‘No Fun City’ allegations?
Cities around the world, including Ottawa, have appointed nightlife commissioners recently. It's a role that is meant to establish and shape a city's party scene. Given that Vancouver is unofficially dubbed the “No Fun City”, partly due to complaints over its lack of nightlife, CBC’s Dan Burritt spoke to Noor Ghazal to take a look at what the city's nightlife needs. She’s the co-founder of Centaur Productions and a co-chair on the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee for the City of Vancouver.

Bro ever since 2 years ago all of the turtles in mill lake and el wood are painted turtles because the turtles I see on the logs and when they go on my rod which pisses me off, their all painted. Because they have the orange belly and also they don’t have the red stripes. Most of these claims are people seeing painted turtles on a log then they think it’s a red eared slider.

You know what is even more bizarre about suvs, the electric ones have very high hood while electric motors are far more compact than ICE. They could offer 0 frunk space in order to make the hood lower, but they're not doing that.

When it comes to safety, I believe this is the safest vehicle you can ride in public. My personal safety is my top priority, and if everyone who rides an EUC (Electric Unicycle) prioritizes their safety as well, it will enhance safety for everyone. In the event of a collision, the rider on the EUC is likely to be the most harmed, emphasizing the importance of careful and responsible riding.

Any parking lot with cars in it is the worst. Empty parking lots can be fun and a lot of useful space, a hockey rink, a dance area, a skate park. Sunset Beach has a great parking lot: picnic tables. They removed almost all cars except for electric charging, disabled access and trade access. And the rest is for bike transport and then the social space hockey, dance, skating, music etc. The solution is simple: #GoCarFree #CarsAreATrap #EndCarEra

This is an NDP moneygrab. Data cited by Vancouver councillor Lenny Zhou shows that at inter-sections with red light cameras, crashes increased by 15 per cent, injuries increased by 24 per cent, and the number of crashes in one scenario increased by 38.1 per cent. Some intersections are too long to have both speed and red-light cameras. A case in point is the intersection at Georgia and Cardero in downtown. The intersection is the length of 3 intersections. If you enter on yellow, you'll be caught on a red, and if you speed up to make it through on yellow, you'll get flashed by the camera. If you slam your brakes hard going 50 km/h to avoid entering the intersection, you'll most likely rear-ended. Is this the province's notion of driver safety? This is a pure money-grab by the government. It flies in the face of safety, and it's more of a random trap for law abiding drivers than anything else. There are probably others in the province like this as well --Just out to take your money. That's it. Speed cameras should NOT be mixed in the same housing as red-light cameras.

Nowadays it's cheap to build a basic simple container or cabin shelter ,or tiny house, without electricity and water is totally fine. At least it's safe and a place to call home. Why can't allow people to have these simple cabins to call home? why leave them sleep on the street or in the shelter that full of violence and drugs? Cold is not the only threat, the violence, the drugs, ... are all what homeless have to face as well. It's cheap to make a basic shelter out of plastic, steel or wood for people to call home and stay safe. Canada is cold, but Canada don't have to be cold hearted! Canada has vast land, enough to allow simple cabins for anyone who needs one to call home. It's not expensive to make a shelter these days. Make them with a solar panel can help with heat.

If we. Force a max of 2 homes for all it would bring the pricing down and stop the greed landlords. Rental should only be a second income not make you rich. This gives the chance for new owners and for people to still have their get away homes. Anything more than that should be heavily taxed just for owning the home. Gov needs to keep a close eye on registered owner changes so families can't hide the homes. It might be unpopular but the amount of people it helps out weighs the angry ones.
